Bert was a doctoral candidate, working with aerosolized drug treatments for premature infants, when he was first exposed to the NICU and the challenges of ventilating these fragile patients. His curiosity and pursuit led to the development of the LifePulse High-Frequency Jet Ventilator, known in the early days as “The Puffer.” Nearly 40 years later, Bert is retired and Bunnell, Inc is now entirely employee-owned. He remains active in the world of academia as a lecturer for his alma mater, the University of Utah.
