## Summary

USANA Health Sciences is a Salt Lake City manufacturer of nutritional, skincare and
weight-management products, sold internationally through a direct-selling network of Brand Partners.
It is one of the Utah-headquartered direct sellers listed on a U.S. exchange, alongside
[Nu Skin](nu-skin.md), Nature's Sunshine and LifeVantage, and part of the state's
[direct-selling cluster](utah-direct-selling-industry.md); it and Nu Skin are the two whose filings this
corpus has read.

The [FY2025 Form 10-K](usana-10k-fy2025.md) contains the fact that matters most about the company
right now, and it is easy to misread. Consolidated net sales rose 8.3% to $925.3 million — but the
entire increase came from **Hiya**, a children's-vitamin brand USANA bought in December 2024 that
sells direct-to-consumer. The core nutritional segment, which is the direct-selling business, fell
6.9% to $793.3 million, and net earnings dropped 74.4% to $10.8 million. Both percentages need one
adjustment before use: fiscal 2025 was a **53-week year** against 52 weeks in 2024, so the growth is
flattered by an extra week of trading and the core decline is understated by it.

USANA is genuinely a manufacturer, which is unusual in this industry: it conducts manufacturing,
production and quality control in-house for approximately 56% of its products, at a facility at its Salt
Lake City headquarters plus an adjacent 54,000-square-foot plant for food products. About 1,570 employees
work across 22 countries, 41% of them in the United States and 28% in China.

## Impact

USANA's most durable effect in Utah is industrial rather than commercial: an owned manufacturing,
production and quality-control complex in Salt Lake County, with laboratory, production and R&D
employment that does not depend on the size of the sales force in any given quarter. Making 56% of your
own products is unusual for a direct seller — though how unusual is not measured in this corpus, and the
comparison to brands that outsource entirely is an impression, not a figure.

**The counterfactual is where this page is weakest, and the honest answer is that it is partial.** If
USANA had never existed, the products would almost certainly exist: nutritional supplements sold through
networks are not scarce, and the Gardner Institute counted 90 other direct-selling companies in Utah
alone. What would plausibly not exist is the plant — a supplement manufacturing and quality operation of
this scale, in Salt Lake County, owned by the brand rather than by a contract manufacturer, which is what
gives the company a claim on the state beyond its distribution model. That is a narrower claim of
significance than the page's framing invites, and it is the one the evidence supports.

The effect on the roughly 387,000 active Customers is harder to grade, and the wiki does not have the
evidence to grade it well. Two limits are worth stating plainly. Product benefit depends on the
evidence for each formulation rather than on the company's positioning, and USANA-sponsored research
is not independent verification. And the direct-selling structure moves commercial risk from the
company onto individual sellers: the 10-K counts Customers but reports nothing about what any of them
earned. The closest available Utah-wide measurement — the
[Gardner Institute's](gardner-utah-direct-selling-analysis-2022.md) survey — found company median annual
earnings of $70 to $3,000 before expenses across **six unnamed Utah companies**, de-identified before the
researchers saw them, so nothing there is attributable to USANA and the range may or may not include it.

**Bet:** That owning the plant beats owning only the brand — that in-house manufacturing and quality
systems, in a category where a contamination or potency failure is an existential event, are worth the
capital they tie up, and will outlast the distribution model that currently pays for them.

## Utah Context

The FY2025 10-K gives 3838 West Parkway Blvd., Salt Lake City as USANA's principal executive offices, and
locates a manufacturing and quality-control facility at that headquarters plus an adjacent
54,000-square-foot food plant. Those two functions are what the filing states; distribution,
administration and R&D at the same site are widely described but are not what the passages quoted on the
[10-K page](usana-10k-fy2025.md) establish. The address is in a part of Salt Lake City that borders West
Valley City, and USANA's own careers material calls the campus its West Valley City home office — a
discrepancy worth knowing when matching job postings to this page, and one resolved in favor of the
filing's address here.

USANA is the Salt Lake County counterweight to a cluster otherwise centered on Utah County. Its
labor market is the manufacturing, laboratory, IT and finance pool of the Salt Lake Valley rather
than the Provo–Lehi corridor where [Nu Skin](nu-skin.md), doTERRA, Young Living and Tranont sit.

## What They Need Now

Read on 2026-08-11, USANA's Jobvite board clustered in four places: IT and systems engineering (a
principal DevOps engineer, a senior Windows-operations systems engineer, an IT support specialist),
finance (accounting manager), customer service, and commercial roles (market development supervisor and
intern, marketing specialist). A pharmacist posting sat alongside them — the regulatory-and-formulation
side of selling supplements in many jurisdictions at once.

Notably absent that day was manufacturing and quality-line hiring, despite in-house production being the
company's distinguishing asset. Treat production and QA as a real but not currently advertised demand
family, and the IT, finance and commercial roles as what is actually open.

This is a dated reading of a live board, not a captured source, which is why no opening count appears
above: a figure this wiki cannot quote from a captured document is not one it asserts. Titles and counts
change weekly; the board in `**Careers:**` is the authority.

## Open Questions

- What proportion of USANA's ~1,570 employees are in Utah, and how many of those are in manufacturing
and laboratory work versus corporate, technology and commercial functions? The 10-K breaks headcount
down by country, not by state.
- Which product-level health claims are supported by independent clinical evidence rather than
  company-sponsored research?
- What do USANA's Brand Partners earn? The company publishes a U.S. income-disclosure statement that
the wiki has not yet captured — the direct comparison to
  [doTERRA's](doterra-earnings-disclosure-2026.md) would be worth having.
- Is Hiya's direct-to-consumer growth a hedge against the decline of direct selling, or a signal that
USANA's next decade is a different business than its last?
- Does the core nutritional segment's 6.9% decline share a cause with [Nu Skin's](nu-skin.md) 14%
revenue decline — that is, is this a Utah-industry contraction rather than two company stories?

## Evidence

- [USANA Health Sciences FY2025 Form 10-K](usana-10k-fy2025.md) — net sales, segment split, earnings,
headcount, active Customer count, headquarters, in-house manufacturing share.
- [An Economic Analysis of Utah's Direct Selling Industry (Gardner Institute, 2022)](gardner-utah-direct-selling-analysis-2022.md)
  — cluster context and the only Utah-wide measurement of sales-representative earnings.
- [dōTERRA 2026 Opportunity and Earnings Disclosure Summary](doterra-earnings-disclosure-2026.md) —
the nearest published account of what a Utah direct seller's sales force earns.
Two live pointers are deliberately *not* listed as evidence, because nothing here captures them: USANA's
investor company-information page (`ir.usana.com/company-information`) and its Jobvite careers board,
which is in `**Careers:**`. The manufacturing figures above come from the 10-K, and the board reading is
dated rather than cited.
